Meet Emmy Lysaght, LPC
Hi there! My name is Emmy Lysaght. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work remotely with clients to provide accessible care across the state of Colorado and Ohio. I provide services via teletherapy in order to make therapy accessible to all. I am wholly dedicated to serving my clients with the best possible services, acting as a compassionate guide through their therapy journey.
My main areas of focus include working with adults, teens, and couples across a range of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-discovery, and betrayal trauma.
My formal education in the field of mental health began with my degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and continued at the University of Denver where I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology. Over the past five or so years, I have had the opportunity to work in a multitude of settings including schools, residential treatment centers, and non-profit organizations providing therapy to individuals from all walks of life.
Whenever I am not with Clients I can be found exploring new places with my trusty pitbull-mix sidekick, Pluto. I also have a strong love for the outdoors and take every moment I can to get a little peace and quiet in nature.
Committed partner. Dog mom. Compassionate nurturer. Patient observer. Lover of humanity.
“Wholehearted living is about engaging with our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion and connection to wake up in the morning and think, ‘No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough.’ It’s going to bed at night thinking, ‘Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.”
-Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
“I do this work because I am relentlessly in awe of the resilience and strength that my clients hold- the power to keep going in the face of failure, the ability to reach for others when they have been hurt time and time again, and the capacity to acknowledge the good and the bad. This is what it means to be human.”

Clients who fit my style
I find that the clients I connect with best are those that are willing to step into the therapy room with an open-mind and willingness to look, together, at themselves and the world in a new light.
My background is primarily rooted in trauma, so creating a safe space where individuals are able to express vulnerability, heal, and grow is an essential part of my work and something I take very seriously.
Why did I become a therapist?
I have always been a curious and observant person that listened more than I spoke. When I found out this could actually be a career- it seemed like a no brainer. I find no greater fulfillment than being able to walk alongside my clients on their journeys and bear witness to their growth.
What can clients expect from me?
You can expect to be greeted in the room by another human with respect, authenticity, and genuine care. I have been told by Clients in the past that they feel genuinely seen and heard in session. This is something I am extremely passionate about because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up as themselves without shame or apology.
My style is unique because while I may have some letters behind my name, I believe you are truly the expert of your own experience. Knowing this, I use a collaborative approach to work with my clients to design the space to fit their needs. I draw from a few different evidenced-based theories including CBT, ACT, IFS, and EFT to create a space that is in line with each Client’s personal style and goals.
